Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
