Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the pair.
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt prepared to express about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can at last express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced passing more hours together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the film, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without laughter".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
In a distinct piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to prevent the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate issued a restriction on the investigation to limit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
In the wake of the tragedy, public figures shared varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering provocative claims that were met with immediate backlash by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the critics recently. Talking on his show, Rogan described the remarks as "shocking" and remarked they revealed a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an associate ought to have intervened when the choice to weigh in on the passing was made.
