Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
