Overcoming a sixteen-point deficit in the final period, the Seattle squad emerged victorious 38-37 at home, notching their fifth straight victory.
While the Rams had become the first to earn a post-season berth earlier on Sunday, the Seahawks secured their place to the postseason after a two-year absence.
With this result, the Seahawks have taken over their Conference standings with a 12-3 mark, replacing the Los Angeles, who fell to the fifth playoff position with an eleven and four record.
Game Highlights
Signal-caller Darnold threw two interceptions but regrouped to make two scoring throws, culminating in the second TD to wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the extra period.
The Rams held a six-point lead at the break before Kenneth Walker III broke free for a long scoring dash for Seattle.
Los Angeles defensive back Josh Wallace then took back Darnold's first pick for 56 yards, setting up a short touchdown by Blake Corum on the ensuing snap.
In the fourth quarter, a scoring pass from Matthew Stafford to Puka Nacua extended the Rams' lead to 30-14, but Rashid Shaheed ignited the comeback with a 58-yard return for a score.
Darnold then connected with Barner in the end zone, and a successful conversion forced the contest into an extra period.
Although Nacua scored for his second TD in overtime, Smith-Njigba answered in kind to setup the decisive score.
